For her article “A Caprock and a Hard Place” in Texas Architect, Jes Deaver interviewed me about my Design for Resilient Environments seminar’s work in the spring of 2020 on Texas’ Unrenewed Places in Dunbar Manhattan Heights, a socio-spatially segregated neighborhood in Lubbock, Texas. I presented five key challenges that the City of Lubbock could address to instigate a critical change in how places like Dunbar are cared for, managed, and redesigned in concert with urban citizens in the contemporary city.
